Key Points
• We’re ecstatic to announce that Coinbase has listed RON! Coinbase is the largest crypto exchange in the USA, serving about 73 million users and counting. These users can now buy, sell, and hold RON in their Coinbase wallets.
• The Coinbase and Ronin movements have long been on separate missions with a shared purpose – to increase economic freedom around the world. Today, we’ve joined forces.
• The Ronin ecosystem is growing at a staggering pace. In this article, you’ll find some of the latest highlights including the success of Pixels, progress on the CyberKongz migration, Kaidro’s recent alliance with Ronin, and more.
$RON, or $RONIN, is Ronin’s native token. It fuels all network activities from gaming transactions and NFT trading to block validation and staking rewards. The token also accrues value through the Ronin Treasury from fees collected throughout the ecosystem. For example, gas fees, the Katana DeX’s 0.05% swap fees, Mavis Market’s 0.5% fee, and 30% of Ronin Name Service (RNS) sales all flow back to RON. RON also powers in-game transactions including Axie’s Gems and Pixels’ VIP memberships. In many ways, RON is the beating heart of Ronin and Web3 gaming.
Want to stake your RON and earn rewards? Current APR is about 14-15% across all validators. Check out our video tutorial to get started:
Step 1: Create a Coinbase account here.
Step 2: Look for the RONIN - USD trading pair.
Step 3: Swap for RON | RONIN!
Note: Coinbase uses the ticker symbol $RONIN for $RON.
For many years, the Coinbase and Ronin movements have been on similar missions: to increase economic freedom around the world. Coinbase has become the largest and most-trusted crypto exchange in the USA. Ronin has become the fastest-growing gaming blockchain in the world. The union of our communities is a perfect fit, but it gets even better.
Over the past three months alone, Ronin’s daily active addresses have surged over 500% past 1M. Many of these users are gamers. Most of them hold RON. Coinbase has also seen recent explosive growth this year as interest in Web3 continues to build. Many of their users may be exploring Web3 for the first time. Today’s RON listing makes it easier to get Ronin’s native token in their hands, and introduce them to the world of Web3 gaming through the world’s most popular Web3 games.
Ronin is an Ethereum-aligned blockchain chain forged for gaming. Great games, fast transactions, and low fees. The average transaction fee on Ronin is about 0.003 USD to 0.005 USD paid in RON, which allows players to focus on what they already love to do: play some of the world’s most popular Web3 games like Pixels and Axie Infinity.
Pixels is a farming simulation MMO reminiscent of Stardew Valley or Habbo Hotel. Everyday, over 230,000 people log-in to the game and complete quests around Terra Villa – and that number grows bigger and bigger. Pixels is a friendly, free-to-play game: it’s the perfect introduction to Web3 gaming – no technical background required. Players can walk around in NFT avatars from oversized CyberKongz Babies to waddling little CrypToadz. Complete quests, earn the $PIXEL token, and participate in the growing ecosystem of gaming guilds today!
In February, Binance listed the $PIXEL token on their Launchpool. This introduced Pixels to a new audience and brought even more players to their game. They came, they played, and they stayed. Pixels DAU has since climbed past 700K, attracting both cryptonative players and people who are new to Web3 gaming. Today, you can also swap $RON for $PIXEL on the Katana DEX.
Axie Infinity is the Web3 game that onboarded millions of players to crypto. Battle, collect, and trade digital pets called axies. At over 4.2B USD in volume, Axie earned the Guinness Book of World Records title of “Highest Transaction Volume for an NFT Collectible Game.” Today, there’s a growing universe of Axie games including the card-battlers Origins and Classic, the land-based game Homeland, a third-party Match3 game called Axie Champions – and more. At its peak, Axie saw over 2M users play its games everyday. Buy Axie collectibles and in-game power-ups using $RON on App.Axie, or buy Axie’s ecosystem and gameplay tokens $AXS and $SLP using $RON on the Katana DEX.
The Ronin movement has forged alliances with established and growing Web3 communities alike over the past year. Here are a few highlights:
In the summer of 2023, the CyberKongz announced their migration onto Ronin and launched their CyberKongz Genkai NFT collection. Many called the moment “the Smoothest Mint of All Time.” That was because the experience of minting an NFT on Ronin’s Mavis Market was easy and seamless: the CyberKongz brought in about $1.4M USD within an hour of the mint launching.
Today, the CyberKongz are in the process of integrating their ecosystem to Ronin’s: the $BANANA token became available on Ronin last week, and the CyberKongz team are working on bringing their Play & Kollect game over soon.
A few weeks ago, we announced our partnership with Kaidro. Kaidro is a multimedia universe that began as a viral coming-of-age webcomic. The founders of Gadget-Bot, the studio behind Kaidro, have worked on blockbuster projects including Jurassic World, Transformers, Call of Duty, and more. They’ve even collaborated with Tim Hedrick – writer for Avatar the Last Airbender.
While Gadget-Bot is building a lore-infused Kaidro game, you may find there’s more to Kaidro than meets the eye. Ronin may soon be home to a unique, integrated storytelling experience connecting Web3, gaming, multimedia, and more.
Apeiron is the first Web3 god game x roguelite hybrid – and they migrated to Ronin last year. Earlier this month, Apeiron launched a public sale of its ecosystem token $APRS. We were blown away by the interest: users staked over 17.2M $wRON, valued around $74.5M, to receive a token allocation. Apeiron has also seen a surge in new users since joining the Ronin movement.
Wild Forest is a real-time strategy (RTS) game for mobile devices built on Ronin. Players go head-to-head in fast-paced PvP battles where their mission is simple: destroy the opponent’s castle before they can destroy yours. Spawn units, generate resources, attack your enemy – and repeat until victory. Wild Forest is similar to Age of Empires. In February, the Wild Forest team hosted its first public NFT sale and sold out within seven minutes.
In 2019, our founders and a few hundred users came together around a shared mission: to spread digital property rights to users of the internet – starting with gamers. The rise of Axie Infinity onboarded countless players to Web3, and today the world is witnessing the same thing happening with Ronin. We’ve built through both bull markets and bear markets, and feel like we’re just getting started. Today, we take an important step towards our collective destiny by forging a new alliance with the Coinbase community. Let’s. Keep. Pushing.
